A building-products distributor's customer is a contractor with a job, a deadline and a credit line. The order is a quote first, then a release against the quote, then a delivery to a site that may not have an address yet, then a partial, then a return. Most of that lives on paper and in the head of the counter person who knows every contractor by truck.
We build the desk that holds the job: the quote, the releases against it, the credit hold that stops an order before it ships instead of after, the delivery with a site contact and a window. Our counter staff know every contractor. Won't software get in their way?
It should get out of their way. The build takes the routine releases — the contractor who wants the same load again — and puts them on a portal, so the counter's time goes to the quotes and the jobs that need a person. If the software adds steps for your best counter person, we built the wrong thing and we will fix it.
Can it check credit before an order ships?
Yes. A credit or approval step between the customer pressing submit and the order becoming real is one of the four things that make a custom build worth it over an off-the-shelf portal. It stops the order at entry, visibly, with a reason.
Can we see it before we call?
