The distributor's problem is not demand. A first build does not load every SKU — it loads the lines that carry your volume and proves the fitment model on them. The catalog clean-up that makes the rest loadable is usually the real first project, and AI does that tedious normalization well with a person approving the merges.
Can dealers see backorders and substitutes?
Yes, and they should. Showing a wrong availability number is worse than showing none, so the build either shows honest stock or flags short lines at confirmation, and suggests the substitute where one exists.
